Your Inner Center: Your Greatest Teacher

In the depths of our mind we have a Center of peace, serenity and wisdom.

In the moments of greatest conflict, concern or demand, going to our Center clarifies things and allows us a fuller and more serene vision of what affects us.

Our mind talks, talks and talks.

It does not stop emitting concepts and opinions.

It moves restlessly and erratically from the past to the future, barely touching the present, which is all we have.

But behind all that hubbub, in the midst of a sacred silence, there is a part of us that wisely and patiently waits for us to approach it.

Let us try to calm ourselves, take just a minute and fix our attention on the flow of our breath.

Calm…serene…at peace, just for a minute.

As soon as we have done this, we will begin to hear the voice that shows us the way and offers us solutions.

Our Center speaks to us from love, understanding, tolerance, respect, inclusion, detachment, humility, courage, prudence.

It speaks to us from wisdom.

The simple fact of remembering our Center brings us closer to it.

On the contrary, its forgetfulness manifests itself as a lonely remoteness, even when it is always present.

The Inner Center is our closest teacher but, trapped by the conflicts of the immediate, we move away from the eternal and thus, we do not take advantage of the teachings we already have within us.

Our inner teacher, our Center, can manifest even on a physical level.

If we pay attention when we look for it, we may experience subtle, but precise and clear sensations in some area of our body.

Some feel it at the top of their heads, towards the crown of their heads; others in the middle of their eyes and many in the center of the chest, near the heart.

Let us get used to using this extraordinary ally that accompanies us always and everywhere, because it is none other than “ourselves”, the Self.
